However, the G-forces produced by these abrupt changes of direction proved to be too much for the average pilot to bear, and the Gaplant was turned over the enhanced Cyber-Newtypes of the Augusta Newtype Lab for flight testing. The Gaplant was originally designed for space combat, and its rocket engines can't be used for sustained atmospheric flight, but when equipped with a booster unit it's capable of reaching Earth orbit.
