Operation Rubicon
The Cyclops Team successfully enter the Libot colony, bringing with them an experimental mobile suit in disassembled form. But no sooner have they arrived than Al recognizes Bernie and follows him to the Cyclops Team's hideout. To keep the boy out of their way, Steiner assigns Bernie to keep an eye on Al, and the pair soon become good friends.

While shadowing Al, Bernie makes the acquaintance of the boy's recently returned neighbor, a young woman named Christina "Chris" Mackenzie. Little does he suspect that Chris is actually the Gundam's test pilot, or that when the Cyclops Team at last locate their target and launch Operation Rubicon, they will be facing Chris in battle.

Christmas Day
With the Cyclops Team having failed in its attempt to destroy the Gundam, their commander at Granada decides on a brutal contingency plan - a nuclear attack on the Libot colony. With only days remaining until Libot is annihilated, Bernie, the Cyclops Teams's last surviving member, decides to destroy the Gundam in order to save the colony.

Al and Bernie hastily repair Bernie's damaged Zaku mobile suit, which was shot down during the initial raid on Libot, and plan an ingenious strategy to defeat the Gundam. On Christmas day, mere hours before the impending nuclear attack, Bernie sets out to battle the Federation's new mobile suit. But both he and Al are still unaware of their opponent's true identity...
