The legendary mobile suit used by Kira Yamato in the last stages of the previous war. Although the Freedom Gundam was heavily damaged in the second Battle of Jachin Due, it was repaired after the end of the war and stored in a secret hangar within Orb territory, in case Kira might need it again. Due to the restrictions of the Junius Treaty, none of the mobile suits currently used by ZAFT and the Earth Alliance are equipped with nuclear engines, so the Freedom's effectively unlimited energy supply gives it a tremendous advantage. Together with the remarkable skill of its pilot, this makes the Freedom perhaps the most powerful machine in existence.
